Had the EGR out today and it was indeed caked with carbon. Blasted it with brake cleaner and gave it a proper scrub, and there has been a noticeable improvement. High pressure thudding noise coming out a leak somewhere? Or worst case scenario for me is the DMF or crankshaft pulleys, or it can be bent air valves. The garage will test for this with a pressure/compression test. Haven't taken the car for a spin and The car made the noises when it was idle in the garage.

The most common problem is the car sounds throaty or I guess it could be a rumble at normal (steady) rev's in 3rd through to 5th gear, which gets better
